ABOUT ME
I grew up in the small town of Leek in Staffordshire, where I regularly return to visit family and friends. From the age of seven I attended The Marilyn Jones Dance Centre where I studied Ballet, Tap and Jazz. It was within this nurturing environment that I was able to explore other aspects of performance, discovering that I had a real talent for singing! From here on I would sing at any given opportunity, joining various local operatic societies. I moved to London at 18 when I received a full scholarship to train at The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, graduating with Honours. I then continued my training at RADA taking part in their Musical Theatre courses, studying privately with their singing coordinator, the wonderful and inspiring Jane Streeton.
During my professional career, I have been fortunate in the diversity of work I have been involved with. From Shakespeare, to Queen with various experiences between!
A life changing experience came when I auditioned to play Belle in 'Jekyll and Hyde', directed by Fraser Grant. This was a six month tour of Italy performing in some of the most stunning theatres I have ever seen. Not only did I have a fantastic time working on the show, but it was also a wonderful opportunity to explore a beautiful country...In six months there wasn't a corner that we didn't cover!
My main passion is for singing and I have been fortunate enough to perform in Cabaret with Tom Wakeley in 'Tom Wakeley Presents...' I also take great pleasure from devising my own Musical Theatre reviews, focusing specifically on new musical writing, and have hosted shows in RADA's Theatre Bar and around the country, entitled 'An Intimate Evening', accompanied by Paul Nash. Within the industry I am confident in my ability as a 'triple threat', performing the three disciplines of singing, acting and dancing to an extremely high standard.
Since 2009 I have been a part of the repertory theatre company at The Brick Lane Music Hall, London, taking the leading lady role in many of their shows, and even appearing on BBC's The One Show as part of their Children In Need appeal. I am delighted to once again be a part of their team for an exciting season ahead!
2011 has also presented me with a fantastic opportunity to hone my skills as a soloist onboard The River Thames Showboat where I perform a variety of show songs as part of an evening cruise through London.
